The GED® Credential – A Second Chance for Adults
If you are aged 16 or older and have a laptop, desktop computer or tablet with internet access, you can study online to get your grade 12 equivalent.
You also need a South African ID or passport to write the tests.
How long will it take?
You might be able to complete your GED® credential within a few months but that will depend on the level of education that you begin with.
You must only be age 16 or older to prepare for and write the GED® tests.
If you had quite a good education up till about Grade 10 or 11 level, then you can do it quite fast.
Our online course is self-paced, so if you need a bit longer to catch up on some subjects, you can. It is completely up to you.

The South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) has evaluated the GED® credential and found the National Senior Certificate as it closest comparable qualification.
There are only 4 subjects and all candidates must pass all four to earn their GED® credential.
Those four subjects are:

- Social Studies
- Reasoning Through Language Arts

SAQA evaluates each submission of a foreign qualification on a case by case basis and therefore students with a GED® are eligible for SAQA Foreign Qualification evaluation.
** GED® graduates may apply to USAf for a letter of foreign conditional exemption with their GED® credential, accompanied by a letter of admission to a degree course from an appropriately accredited US university.**
